High School Production Assistant
Offer modified on 03/13/2008

We're looking for motivated high school juniors and seniors from the Decatur, IL area to assist our film crews with day-to-day tasks during our filming.  Production Assistants can be tasked with just about anything, but they'll get hands on experience with a real production team that can help get them a job in the entertainment industry.  If you're interested in working behind the scenes for a television production, please complete an application and include the following items in your cover letter:

  1.  Three personal references from each of three categories:
    1. Teacher or High School Administrator (Principal, etc.)
    2. Community Leader, Community Volunteer Coordinator or Clergy Member
    3. Sports Coach, Military Recruiter or Local Business Employer
  2. List why you'd like to participate in this opportunity and why you're a good fit
  3. List what skills you have that qualify you to assist our production
    • Tip: Be specific, as you're going up against a lot of interested students!
  4. Which high school you currently attend (See the list below for accepted schools.)

Make sure you submit BOTH a resume and a cover letter, even if you do not have any work experience.  Your high school guidance counselor can help you learn how to do this.  Keep in mind, honesty is critically important.  A cover letter will also act as a writing sample, so do your best to check your spelling and grammar.  Sloppy work says a lot about an individual.

High school students will NOT be housed at the cabin, as that is "student housing" only for the college students participating on our show.  Because of age differences and personal privacy, we do not anticipate inviting high school students to attend filming at that location unless there is a need met with parental consent.

Also, you must have a reliable method of transportation, meaning you'll need a valid drivers license or permit.  Your application will be reviewed by our production team and also by a small group of local business owners, employees and/or teachers.  Should you be chosen in the first round of screening, you'll be invited to attend an information session, most likely held in mid-March, which will then help you decide if this position is really something you would be interested in.  If so, you will participate in a final selection process after the information session with the potential for a one-on-one or small group interview.

We look forward to hearing from you!!  Applications are due by April 1st, 2008.

NOTE: We only accept student applications from Maroa-Forsyth, Warrensburg, Mt. Zion, St. Teresa and local Decatur-area high schools.

BONUS: If you're a Senior and you're confirmed as going into the United States Marine Corps, consider yourself qualified and accepted.  Talk to SSgt Mowry or SSgt Zeifang at Brettwood Village for more information.  To be fair to other students in the area, if there's more than one applicant with this background, only one will be selected to participate by the local USMC recruiting office before their ship date.
